2nd August 2007

Songs are being recorded. Four have been started. There are guitars, drums, violins, a violin strung as viola, piano, organ and vocals so far. It sounds like a record. It sounds ace. It won't be ready for ages.

Books and Dreams....

A rare update.

I am currently writing and finishing the songs for the next record. It’s an exciting time when you can see the album starting to take shape. Sometimes it seems easy, every chord played sounds like the start of a new song. Phrases leap out of overheard conversations that can lead to two or three more songs. A scene from a film or a line from a book can offer hundreds of different avenues.

It can also be frustrating, just as you finally get to bed, a new lyric starts buzzing around your head and as much as sleep is beckoning, you can't ignore it. Grab what you can while you can.

As well as the new songs being written there is a box of tapes and mini discs to be listened to. These are full of half finished songs and scraps of lyrics. I have just listened to the first disc; seventeen tracks of random guitar and scattered lyrics and then, finally, a fully formed gem of a song I can't even remember writing.

For anybody with any interest some of the strong contenders currently go under the following titles: Cut man, Windowsill Dust, Maybe is a Strange Sorry Word, Missed, These Are Your Saturday Nights, Keep Your Finger on Your Gun, Laburnum, Sweet Skin, Rare is the Calm, Cathedrals and Cities, Legs that like to Kick.

No doubt some of these will be cast aside and new ones written and it will be a while before I get these recorded and even longer before I finally get them out into the world. Still, just to let you know, it has begun and (fingers crossed) will be finished.

Two postings in one day, something very exciting must have happened in the dusty world of The Library Trust...

We have had our first ever play on national radio.  Thank you very  much to Mark Radcliffe at Radio 2.  You can listen to Mark and Simon Armitage  chatting about, and playing, My Town on TV here.

We were played at 1 hour 23 minutes into the show on Hallowe'en.

And no Mark, we didn't put our brown shoes on the table...

Hello all,

Confusingly, The A to Z of Mathematics is listed on HMV and Amazon as being released on 13/11/06 and only being available for pre-order.

We know you can buy it from Townsend's Records now and why not get it at your friendly local independent anyway.

Reviews are starting to come in thick and fast and we are updating the reviews page here as we go along.

THE LIBRARY TRUST HQ

23rd October 2006

We have had a few early reviews through, you can read them here

My Town On TV has been added to Myspace to encourage you to buy the album. Of course if you don't like the song this ruse won't work, but life is about chances and we like to live on the edge. Go and have a listen.

Being a shoddy, half-cocked outfit we don't have links to where you can pre-order the album yet apart from Townsend's Records but they are a friendly independent so why not get it there anyway.

We will add more links when they come through.

erm , that's all for now, more to follow.

We have some Library Trust badges, do you want one?
email the site with your address and we will send.

7th November 2005

Although we have been basking in the relief of finally having the ep in the shops, Library Trust HQ has not been completley inactive over the last couple of weeks.

Robert was in London village last week recording some new songs. How do they sound? we don't know yet, he won't play them to us.

We have also been told that tracks off the ep have been getting played on radio in France, Australia and Portugal and Marc Riley at BBC 6 Music has given us a spin. This is all very interesting because as far as we are aware no copies were sent to radio...

A new review here at www.indiecredential.com.

Keep in touch via the contacts page, more news when we get it.

THE LIBRARY TRUST HQ

7th October 2005

We haven't updated the site for two months, we've been hiding and avoiding the phone BUT we are now pleased to announce BUILD YOUR OWN SNOWGLOBE is finally available to order.

you can buy the ep from:

www.roughtrade.co.uk
www.picadillyrecords.co.uk (indie record of the week)
www.boomkat.com (with a lovely review)
www.normanrecords.com
www.simbioticstore.com

and other online stores.

You SHOULD be able to order it through your local record shop. It is being distributed by Cargo.

And although we may appear to be the laziest Trust in business we have been slowly working on the songs to the follow up. We hope this will be released before The Stone Roses reform and produce their third album and before the next Blue Nile record...

More importantly the artwork is nearly finished and we have a title.

There is a new review at www.manchestermusic.co.uk in the release section.

Sorry for the huge wait, it was out of our control and thank you for your patience.
